Five officers were shot, three fatally, in York County, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, state police said.
The officers were fulfilling an order of order at that time, the officials responsible for enforcing the law reported on the confirmed investigation to ABC News.
The shooter is dead, according to the commissioner of the State Police of Pennsylvania, Colonel Christopher Paris, who said there is no continuous threat.
Two people are being treated at the Wellspan York Hospital in relation to the incident, confirmed a hospital spokesman for ABC News. The officers are in critical but stable condition, according to Paris.
“There are simply no words that I can offer to calm the pain that this community has experienced and unfortunately will continue to occur,” said Paris at a press conference on Wednesday night. “The pain will be unbearable, but we will endure.”

The State Police of Pennsylvania is leading the investigation into the shooting. Paris said there are many details that the police are not ready to release at this time due to ongoing investigation.
The governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, said he has been informed about the situation and responded to the scene in the municipality of North Codorus.
The State Attorney General, Dave Sunday, also replied.
The agents of the ATF Harrisburg field office and the FBI are helping at the scene.
“Our prayers are with the officers, their families and the entire York County community,” said FBI director Kash Patel, in a statement.
The incident was informed to 911 shortly after 2 pm on Wednesday and responded multiple police units and emergency medical service, said York County Emergency Management official.
Dave Miller, who lives on the other side of the shooting street, told ABC Harrisburg Affiliate WHTM He observed how the officers approached the barn area of a farm, then heard “many, many shots.”
He described the incident as “traumatic.”
“As a scene on today’s television,” he told the station.
All schools in the school district of the Spring Grove area initially protected themselves in place “due to an incident involved by officers in our area,” said the school district in a statement while stressing the situation does not involve any of its schools or students. Since then, the shelter is over, the district said.
