Gunman in the shooting of the Michigan church was veteran of the marine war and Iraq: officials

The man suspected of opening fire in a Sud church in Michigan on Sunday was a 40 -year -old veteran of the Iraq war, according to the officials.

Police said the suspect, Thomas Jacob Sanford, led his truck to the Church of Jesus Christ of the last days in Grand Blanc, Michigan, before shooting and setting fire to the building.

Sanford was killed in a shooting with the police, authorities said. At least four parishioners were killed, and another eight were injured in the attack.

Following the mortal uproar, Sanford’s military history has focused. The truck that led to the church has a veteran plaque of the Iraq war, according to the officials.

A photo published in the Facebook account of Sanford’s mother seems to show him stop in front of the truck supposedly used in Sunday’s attack.

ABC News has confirmed with the Marines’ body of the United States that Sanford served four years in Los Marines from June 2004 to June 2008. He finally went up to the sergeant range, authorities said.

He had a tour of combat to Iraq that ended three months before leaving the Marines, being deployed in Operation Libertad Iraquí in August 2007.

While serving, Sanford specialized in the management of the military vehicle team. As a technician responsible for inspecting, attending and repairing motor transport equipment such as tactical vehicles and as a vehicle recovery operator, responsible for recovering armored vehicles in support of the troops missions.

He left the army in March 2008, after working on combat logistics in Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

The Sanford registration provided by Marines’s body indicates that it was given typical recognition at the time of its service for those of its range.

Sanford was also the father of a son who dealt with serious health obstacles after he was born, according to online family and hospital publications.

No reason has been identified in the shooting and mortal fire on Sunday.
