The Justice Department on Friday filed a lawsuit against Fulton County, Georgia, in an attempt to obtain records from the 2020 election, in what appears to be the Trump administration’s latest move to investigate the election the president lost.
The Justice Department is seeking documents including ballot stubs and envelopes with signatures from the 2020 general election, the lawsuit from the Justice Department’s civil department states.
According to the lawsuit, Attorney General Pam Bondi is investigating Fulton County’s “compliance with federal election law.”
Justice Department officials sent a letter to the Fulton County Clerk in November requesting the records but received no response, the lawsuit states.

President Donald Trump has continued to falsely claim that he won the 2020 election, including the state of Georgia, which he lost to Joe Biden. Trump and 18 others were charged in Fulton County for alleged attempts to overturn the election results.
Trump pleaded not guilty and charges against all defendants were dismissed last month.
The Fulton County Clerk did not immediately respond to a request for comment from ABC News.
