Sean ‘Diddy’ combs faces a sentence after conviction for charges related to prostitution

After a two -month trial and an emotional testimony of dozens of witnesses who resulted in a divided verdict, a federal judge is scheduled to sentence Sean “Diddy” Combs on Friday morning after their conviction for two positions related to prostitution.

Prosecutors have pressed that the controversial rap magnate receives a sentence of at least 11 years in prison, while combs lawyers have advocated a 14 -month sentence that would allow combs to return to their family at the end of the year.

“In my life, I have made many mistakes, but I’m not running away from them anymore,” Comong wrote on Thursday in a letter to the judge that supervises his case. “I am very sorry for the pain that I caused, but I understand that the mere words” sorry “will never be good enough since these words alone cannot erase the pain of the past.”

The decision is now in the hands of the American District Judge Arun Subramanian, who has supervised the case of combs since he was arrested more than a year ago.

After listening to six weeks of testimony of 34 witnesses of prosecution, a jury in July acquitted the combs of the most serious positions he faced: conspiracy of extortion and sexual trafficking, but found him guilty of two transport positions to participate in prostitution.

On Friday, combs lawyers will have another attempt to convince the judge to free ComBs, while prosecutors argue that the history of violence of combs and the alleged lack of respect for law justify a long prison sentence.

How do prosecutors justify a sentence of 11 years?

Federal prosecutors have argued that combs deserve a long sentence due to what they described as their history of violent behavior and lack of respect for the law. They said that the punishment should reflect the “decades of violence without control” committed by combs and “decades of psychological, emotional and physical damage that it has inflicted.”

While combs was acquitted of the most serious positions of sexual trafficking and extortion conspiracy, prosecutors argue that combs is “impenitent” for the crimes of which he was convicted and left their victims with fear.

They have also pointed out the video chamber video of the hotel that shows combs by violently hitting their ex -girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in a case of violence recognized by the combs defense lawyers themselves.

“Incredibly, while the defendant admitted his acts of violence and abuse during the trial, he now argues that his victims should assume the fault,” prosecutors wrote.

The prosecutors presented six letters of victims and witnesses who urged the Judge Subramanian to keep the combs in prison. Two of the victims of combs, Ventura and a former assistant who alleged that combs sexually assaulted her, three former employees, and Ventura’s parents wrote letters.

“I hope your decision considers the truths in question that the jury could not see,” Ventura wrote. “My concerns that they are combs or their associates will come after me and my family is my reality.”

How do defense lawyers justify a 14 -month sentence?

The combs lawyers argue that the rap magnate is a changed man who does not deserve more than 14 months in prison. With the combs that already served 12 months in jail before and after his trial, the sentence would allow him to go home by the end of the year.

“It has served more than a year in one of the most notorious prisons in the United States, but has taken the most of that punishment. It is time for Mr. Combs to go to his family to his family, so he can continue his treatment and try to make the most of the next chapter of his extraordinary life,” they wrote their lawyers.

His lawyers emphasized the judge that ComBs was acquitted of the most serious positions, including accusations that he coerced women in sex, and emphasized his character, calling him “an extraordinary person who has made monumental professional and personal contributions during his 55 years.”

Virginia Huynh, a woman that prosecutors initially claimed that she was a victim of combs crimes, also presented a letter in support from Combs, arguing that she was pressed to identify as a victim and does not believe that she was sexual or participated in prostitution with combs.

“I kindly ask that I consider freeing your family,” he wrote.

Who is expected to speak in the sentence?

Comink plans to address the judge directly before his sentence in what his lawyers said it would be “the most dignified and respectful fashion possible.”

In a letter presented to the judge on Thursday, Comuns apologized for his actions and argued that he was renovated in prison, sober for the first time.

“I have been working at work and working diligently to become the best version of myself to make sure to never make the same mistakes again,” combs wrote.

The letter also declared: “I want to apologize and say how sincere I am for all the pain and pain that I have caused to others for my behavior. I assume all the responsibility and responsibility of my past mistakes.”

Judge Subramanian is also allowing “Mia”, a former combs personal assistant, who claimed that he sexually assaulted her several times, to deliver an impact statement of the victim in the court.
